Yesterday The President Paul Kagame told newly sworn-in MPs that Rwanda’s politics is to mind its own businesses and strive to bring about solutions to the problems that citizens encounter. He said that the change that Rwandans make relies on their own choices, not from external pressure.

President Kagame said that as he was officiating the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected 80 Members of the Parliament, the Lower House.

He pointed out that those who claim that Rwanda has recently released some of the prisoners due to external pressure are mistaken.

The Head of State said that Rwanda’s future is first and foremost designed and oriented by Rwandans themselves, not external actors.

“Imposing your way because you believe you are superior no longer works. Especially for us. We have swallowed too much, dictates no longer work on us. Those who want to work with us as partners are welcome,” Kagame added.

His speech also emphasized the importance of MPs obligation to holding government officials accountable once they are disconnected to their responsibilities.

He cautioned those ones who will be found connected to some political misbehaviors including public funds mishandling or similar misconducts.

President Kagame said those ones who take the public funds for their own and try to hide their identities through assigning these unlawful treasures to third persons with forged names, will be uncovered and hold accountable.

The 80 MPs will be serving in this fourth term that will take an end in 2023.

President Kagame reminded them that a true MP is the one who remains in contact with citizens to learn on their serious concerns and elect laws that help political actors in solving them.

The Executive Bureau of the new Lower House comprises of its Speaker Hon Donatille Mukabalisa, assisted by two deputy Presidents namely Ms Edda Mukabagwiza( FPR-Inkotanyi) and Sheikh Moussa Fazil Harerimana(PDI).
