The decision from the Ministry of natural resources is taken in conformity with the recently published cabinet resolutions stipulating that a given amount of incomes generated from mines or other natural resources should be invested to serve local inhabitants.
Rwanda has established a policy aimed at helping surrounding inhabitants benefit from resources from tourism in National Ibirunga Park at 5% of the whole product.
According to the today’s meeting where the State Minister Evode Imena was present, the government will invest 10% of the whole product from the mines in building roads, electricity installations, water sanitation, ICT, modernized agriculture, health care among other initiatives.
The priority will be given to citizens living in surrounding areas of the mines where precious minerals are extracted.
Evode Imena, at the other side, said that the current international market set up has caused the monetary value of the minerals from Rwanda to collapse at the international market.
Last year, Rwanda has earned not less than $3 billion from trading minerals at the international market.
87 sectors from different districts of Rwanda have been selected to benefit from these government initiated policies.
