Today the IGP of Rwanda National Police Emmanuel K Gasana has handled over the investigation related duties that were formerly under the CIP to the newly established Rwanda Investigation Bureau headed by Col Jeannot Ruhunga. The handover event took place today at the Rwanda National Police Headquarters, Kakiru, Kigali.
During the same event, it was revealed that 463 currently active in the RNP will join the RIB as to make its operations more effective.
As he addressed the gathering, the CEO of the RIB Col Ruhunga said that the Bureau will strive to perform better as to back the efforts so far made by the CID.
The handover event was chaired by the Rwandan Minister of Justice Johnson Busingye
Col Ruhunga said that the aim of the Bureau is to enforce the law and pursue criminals who bypass it.
The RNP was established in 2000 with the aim of safeguarding Rwandan citizens and their belongings.
The Minister of Justice Busingye said that RIB will be working in shadow as an investigation body and, thus, it is expected to be more professional and productive.
He called upon police officers to integrate to Bureau to nurture more professional spirit with firm discipline.
Officers to integrate the RIB will be instructed in the newly communicated school called ‘Rwanda Law Enforcement Academy’.
