77 Rwandan refugees are back home from the remote DRC’s territories.

According to the MIDMAR Public Relations Officer, these 77 refugees were living in the neighboring DRC among whom 56 settled in the Kasai Province.

For the Nkamira Refugee Transit Camp, those people are the first ones to have come from very far in DRC. Normally the Champ receives refugees from Northern and Southern Kivu.

A lot Rwandan refugees in Kasai wish to be return back home says Singirankabo Simon, one the returnees. He fled the country due to war situation that was prevailing in at that time. He lived in Rubavu before stepping to DCR in Kasai Province.

After having heard about the peaceful neighborhood between Rwandans he sensitized others to come back home as they were living in sad and situations in DRC.

According to him the Kasai is 250 kilometers away from the Mbujimayi town. Around 3000 refugees live dispatched in three different called Chabobo,Rusuku and Kacha  Simon says.

Rwandan refugees living in these camps practice agricultural activities that help them to survive in Camp.

Singirankabo told Umuseke that Rwandan refugees live in peaceful neighborhood with Congolese in the region.

After receiving the refugees status from the HCR,it become their own duty to survive trough promoting some small economic activities such as trade or otherwise.

Singirankabo revealed to journalists that Congolese sometimes accuse Rwandans to be the cause of their misfortune.

The Way Home

Singirankabo told Umuseke they get in contact with Miss Mukantabana Seraphine MIDMAR Minister thorugh his friend living in Rwanda telling her that his friends living in Kasai wish to come back home but do not have facilities to do so.

Ministsr Mukantabana  in partnership with Congolese  authorities arranged how Rwandans could return back home.

Singirankabo said that after he was caught talking with Rwandans, other refugees started to suspect him to betray them.

Consequently other refugees started to mistreat him. Accordingly he hides during daytime and traveled at evening so to be safe.

Despite that he listed the refugees who wished to return .He sent these names to HCR headquarters in Kinshasa via telephone,helping 56 refugees to get ;listed and get back home.

Now they are home and the MIDMAR informs all refugees willing to return back home that it will help them to do so by all means possible.
