The AU-UN Hybrid Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) has awarded Rwanda Defence Forces peacekeepers (Rwanbatt38) with UN Peacekeeping Medals in recognition of the job well done. The event was held at Zalingie Military Team Location (TML) Central Darfur and officiated by the UNAMID Force Commander (FC) Lt Gen Paul Ignace Mella.
Gen Mella thanked the Rwandan peacekeepers for their professionalism in executing UNAMID mandate during their tour of duty. He further commended Rwanbatt 38 Force for remaining vigilant as the security situation in Darfur is unpredictable.
“I commend you for your readiness, and urge you to maintain you robust readiness as security in Darfur is unpredictable” said Gen Mella.
Rwanbatt 38 commanding Officer Lt Col FK RWANYAMUGABO congratulated Officers, Men and Women for the commendable job well done so far as well as different various stake holders.
“Today marks yet another milestone in our noble service to humanity. It has been 11 months of demanding yet fulfilling duty and May I hasten to say that it would not have been possible without the support, encouragement and guidance of the various stake holders here with us today. You made the work much easier for us and this medal belongs to you all”, said Lt Col Rwanyamugabo.
