The Egyptian bicycling team has stopped its decision to participate in the Tour du Rwanda rally that is scheduled to take place in Kigali on the ongoing November, 16, 2014.
The reason for this decision is rooted on the fear of the Egyptian delegation to be contaminated by the deadly Ebola disease which is not yet declared officially neither in Rwanda nor in the region at large.
The spokesperson of the Rwanda bicycling federation (FERWACY), Aimable Bayingana told UM– USEKE that Egypt decided and nothing can be made upon it.
He said that Egypt was given enough explanations and assurance that Ebola did not reach Rwanda even the rest of the region, but the Egyptian health officials did not accept it as evident.
16 bicycling teams are expected to attend this forthcoming tour.
The teams will come from South Africa, Kenya, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Algerie, Maroc, Cameroun, Gabon, USA, France, Germany, Switzerland and Australia.
