United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) manager Li Yong was hosted by His Excellence Paul Kagame. Both officials discussed on industrial development issues in Rwanda and on how the sector can be more supported to be more sustainable.
The Chinese native told media that he applauds the level of industrial development that Rwanda is currently achieving as its path towards economic growth continues.
The former Chinese Minister of industry said the UN based organization that he leads is supportive to Rwandan industrial policies and will back the national policies aimed at achieving desired economic goals.
Li Yong leads the UNIDO since 2013, revealing that it has long term programs to develop industrial sector in Africa in general and in Rwanda particularly.
The Rwandan Minister in charge of commerce and industrial development, Francis Kanimba said that UNIDO chief chose to visit Rwanda due to its well defined policies that are potential of changing people’s lives.
He (Minister Kanimba) said that Li Yong’s organization is willing to support the African industrial development for ten years ahead.
This emphasis will be put on supporting countries that have set up sustainable industrial policies.
UNIDO started backing Rwandan industrial policies since 1997 and more support has been provided in areas of recycling metal and plastically- made stuffs, in increasing workers’ skills and knowledge.
It also helped in the construction of the electrical power plants completed into 2011 and that are producing 600 MW among other initiatives.
