Former Cranes skipper and ex-international Ibrahim Sekagya is officially a New York Red Bulls player.
The ex-Red Bull Salzburg defender completed the move to their New York sister club on Thursday after over two weeks of training with them.
“We are delighted to sign Ibrahim and we are sure his experience will strengthen our options in defense,” said Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh as quoted on Red Bulls website.
“He was well respected and liked by our colleagues at Red Bull Salzburg and we are confident he can play a role in our team as we enter into the second half of our regular season.”
Sekagya captained Uganda in qualifiers for the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, and several Nations Cp campaigns until 2012 when he retired.
The 32-year-old defender signed with Red Bull Salzburg back in June 2007 and has become a mainstay for the Austrian Bundesliga power, including captaining them to the league and Cup double in the 2011 and 2012 season.
