France-He is one of the most influential officers of former FAR .He is known to have been one of the brains of Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi in 1994.Col Laurent Serubuga is arrested in Cambrai ,Northern France.
His arrest comes in after Rwanda has issued international arrest warrants against him as Lawyer Thierry Massis told AFP (Agence France Presse).
He of the Vice Chief of Defense Staff in the former FAR (Forces Armées Rwandaises) from July,1994 in the hub of Genocide.
For the CPCR(Collectif des parties civiles pour le Rwanda),an umbrella for Rwandan Civil Society, this a good news as its President Alain Gauthier rejoices that Serubuga has a significant role in the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994.
Surubuga has been accused by Bagosora to have committed crimes against the Tutsi in 1994.
The same Bagosora has been sentenced to 35 years of imprisonment by Arusha’ ICTR.
Col Serubuga was one of the Chief army commanders who overthrown Kayibanda Grégoire in 1973.he headed different functions in Ex-FAR army until when 1992 where he was pensioned. But ,according to CPCR, the Abatabazi government chose him to train soldiers who were committing Genocide.
