During a handover between both the outgoing and the incoming Mufti of Rwanda that took [place at Nyamirambo,The New Mufti has said that the recent issues in Islam in Rwanda is Allah’s will.
During the ceremony,both Mufti thanked the Almight Allah for having helped the Muslim Community of Rwanda for different achievements realized throughout the term of Mufti Cheik Gahutu Abdul Karim.
Cheikh Abdul Karim thanked Rwandan government that backed the Muslim Community’ initiatives to be achieved. He did not mention why he was deposed from his former duties.
The crisis that is dividing the Muslim Community in Rwanda is rooted into diverse and sometimes conflicting views on issues pertaining to Muslim principles.
In a general meeting held on 13,July,2013,Mufti Abdul Karim Gahutu was deposed from his responsibilities due to mismanagement of Community’ affairs.
This crisis has been handled through the participation of the RGB(Rwanda Governance Board) and the NURC (National Unity and Reconciliation Commission).
The new appointed Mufti thanked the outgoing Mufti for his efforts to solve the crisis and called upon the entire community of Muslims to take their destiny as a community into their hands so to solve issues that tarnish the organization’ image.
“This is what God wants from Us” said Cheikh Ibrahim Kayitare.
