After a council meeting resolved that it could not meet the demands of lecturers and other support staff, Makerere University has been closed indefinitely.
The lectures are demanding a 100% pay-rise. The decision was announced by the chairman University Council Dr. Charles Wana Etyem after an emergency meeting.
In a letter addressed to Dr Etyem, the lecturers indicated that their services won’t be available on 17th when the University opens unless their demands are met.
