The Special UN envoy on the Great Lakes Region Mary Robinson visits Rwanda to discuss with Rwanda senior officials on the DRC crisis that keeps destabilizing the region.
She wishes to discuss with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Louise Mushikiwabo and the one of Defense, Gen James Kabarebe. She also plans to discuss with H.E Paul Kagame.
RFI,International French Radio Station, reports that among the topics to discuss obviously involve the alleged support of Rwanda to the M23 rebels in DRC.
This her last trip in the region after the ones she did in different countries of the region.
She attended the Kampala ICGLR meeting that brought together more than five countries of the region to assess what needs to be done in order to achieve a lasting peace in the region.
The meeting concluded that the M23 rebels with DRC officials must restart talks within 14 days after the meeting ended.
She does not support the intergration of M23 rebels into DRC army but urges them to disarm as soon as possible.
Mary Robinson is accompanied by Mr Martin Kobler, representing the MONUSCO and Mr Boubacar Diarra with an important delegation.
