According Madame Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US Deputy Secretary of State in Charge of Foreign Affairs, Rwanda will not receive the usual financial support it receives from US for military training.
The RDF Spokesperson, Brig Gen Joseph Nzabamwita denies these allegations saying that Rwanda is not involved into these crimes.
“It is very surprising to find that Rwanda is asked on issues that normally do not concern Rwandans” , he told The Reuters.
“The military cooperation between US Army and RDF has strong and long time ties and USA knows that we are not concerned by these allegations”, Brig Gen Nzabamwita told The Reuters.
RDF spokesperson underlines the role that Rwanda keeps on playing in the establishment of peace in the region through its advocating for a political response to DRC crisis.
According to the RDF Spokesperson, RDF will keep on help the international community to restore peace in troubled areas across the globe and RDF is keen to keep on strengthening its professionalism as a disciplined army.
This suspension of US financial support to RDF comes in as the Obama administration undergoes challenges relating to the financial shutdown between the two chambers of the US Congress, Democrats and Republicans, on the Obamacare budget.
This crisis results into a serious provisional unemployment of numerous workers across the US.
The US bill in the matter prohibits the purchase of new weapons of the countries under sanctions until the White House decides to remove them.
