The former students in UNR living in Belgium celebrates the 50 years Jubilee of the existence of the University, festivites are scheduled to take place Saturday at the University of Louvain La Neuve , La place de l’Hacaille, Brussels Belgium from 10h00.
Different guests of honor are expected to attend the festivities including the former Burundian Presidendt Mr Sylvestre Ntibantunganya, the current President of the University of Louvain, alongside other officials from different countries and religious organisations.
Different talks and activities are scheduled to take place during the event.The participants will be enjoying a traditional dancing clubs’ songs in a night show called “Ijoro ry’umuco gakondo”.
Different senior officials who studied in the University will attend the event ad a documentary movie is planned to be shown to the public, a movie on the historical background of the University.
According to existing information, officials who studied in the University in exercise today will not attend the festivities as they wait to launch the one University of Rwanda planned to start operating in the late of the upcoming December.
The University of Rwanda is known in the region to have provided to education to different senior officials including former Heads of States and eminent intellectuals in the region.
It has been created in 1963 one year after Rwanda has got its independence from the Belgium colonial rule.
Its motto is “Illuminatio et Salus populi” means the the “Light and Benediction for people”
