The FARDC (Congolese army) and The UN special brigade continues the war against the FDLR, a rebel group that claims to fight against Rwanda.
According to the lanouvelletribune, the FARDC army swore to keep chasing all rebel groups operating in the DRC the same way it did to the M23.
One of the FARDC chief commanders has told journalists that after the M23 ,the next step is to dethrone FDLR and other negative forces operating in East Congo such as ADF -NALU, LRA, FNL and other small Congolese rebels.
The Congolese authorities affirm that FDLR harms people’s lives through using sexual harassment against women, confiscation of people’s goods, recruiting children to join army, etc.
Rwanda accused the FDLR to be a rebel group composed of genocide perpetrators and therefore no need to hold peace talks with them.
In a joint meeting held in Pretoria, the international community has urged the DRC to dismantle all rebel groups operating in DRC including the FDLR .
At the other hand, different reports released by independent UN departments have clearly shown that a close collaboration exist between FDLR and DRC government authorities.
