Dr Dushime Theophile uttered that during a show held at different radio stations including Isango, Isangano, Ishingiro, Izuba, Inkoramutima and Voice of Africa. The show held on Sunday, 10, November 2013 discussed on the medical quality services to all levels and assess what are the challenges facing both medical staff and patients.
Another invited guest was a journalist from radio One , Mr Ntawuyirishamaboko Celestin who, in his daily activities follows what is related to medical services delivery.
the representative of the Ministry of healthy in the show underlined the importance of providing both medical facilities and regular training to medical staff as to provide effective services to patients.
At the other side, both journalists and listeners who intervened in the show claimed that issues such as medical transfers to highly equipped hospitals sucha s CHUK complicate their healthy state.
Patients affirm that due to a small number of medical staff members and medical drugs, some of them delay to receive quality medical services, adding that this deteriorates their already bad health state.
The representative of the Ministry of health in the show advised patients to first gather all the necessary means, including the food and accommodation package to use before receiving the adequate medical treatment they search.
He also urged medical institutions to increase communication so to be precise of who needs quick services than the other.
This issue was raised by the journalist who said that in some cases, patients are sent by the local heath centers and once at CHUK (Centre Hospitalier Universtaire de Kigali) they find a high number of patients, and then they wait and this likely to cause some people loose their lives, said journalists.
Dr Dushime urged the medical staff across the nation to provide relevant new to patients concerning the heath state as help them know the state of their sickness and behave accordingly.
He warned some medical centers that withhold patients to the centers sites only because they are unable to pay medical fees.
For him, the patient’s rights are the most important than money that can be paid later.
Before concluding, Dr Dushime said that in general, medical services are provided effectively even if few areas still need more improvement.
