Two men from Kanama sector in Rubavu district were caught having six grenades that they wanted to blast in Mahoko commercial center.Those men wanted to release these grenades at petrol station and in the Mahoko commercial center, news say.
One of those men was a soldier in the FDLR rebels who disarmed and integrated the normal life. He became a teacher and was also the chief commander of the local defense elements called Inkeragutabara.
He was an senior officer in the FDLR ranked Major.
The Mayor of the Rubavu distrt Bahame Hassan affirms the veracity of the news and thanked the collaboration of the local population with security agents that facilitated the capturing of those evildoers.
It is helpful to the security of our nation that local population deliver necessary information needed to hinder those people from harming people’s lives, Sheikh Bahame Hassan said.
The information was delivered by people close to those so called teachers.
From 1997 to 2001, districts like Rubavu, Nyabihu and Musanza underwent troubles resulting from the a guerrilla war launched by the FDLR rebels. It is known that some of the local population had access to weapons that they keep having up to now.
Security officials keep urging the local population to disarm and bring these weapons to the due authorities so prevent people from being killed by these deadly tools.
