She said that during a film screening of ISONGA movie that took place at the Headquarters of REMA( Rwanda Environment Management Authority), a film displaying the extent at which human activities can negatively impact on the ecosystems.
The principal actor in this film called Isonga is Irunga, known as Rutebuka, a man owning several wives with whom he had as many children as possible.
Once the children became old enough, the situation becomes hard for the whole family as the Rutebuka’s children search for heritage.
Apart from these quarrels between Rutebuka’s children also shows issues relating to corruption and clearly shows that urbanization is one of the dangers facing the stability of the ecosystems.
Dr Mukankomeje told the audience that environment protection is an everyone’s task and if protected, the environment bears effective fruits for everyone.
Protecting environment is not a less important issue, Rwanda does not invest in environment protection for nothing, Dr Mukankomeje advised the audience.
We want everyone to learn from our examples and strive to make our planet safer and habitable, she added.
Highlighting the crucial need for Rwandans to protect their scarce natural resources, Dr Mukankomeje said that if these resources are misused, consequently, future generations were face a significant lack of resources fro their survival.
If we don’t manage the few resources we own, God will take us accountable for our deeds, Dr Mukankomeje warned.
Dr Mukankomeje said that more actions should be done in protecting the environment instead of keeping uttering insightful speeches. She advocated for more actions rather than for words.
During the film screening , REMA awarded best actors in the movie, encouraging others Rwandans to provide more innovative actions for the protection of the environment.
REMA with its partners spent 49 Million Rwandan Francs for the completion of the ISONGA movie.
