Tizzo, Derek and Olivis of Active group are competing in the Primus Guma Guma Super Star Season 4 (PGGSS 4), their first time since the competition started.
The boys shared their views on relationships and love with Dean Karemera
Tizzo
What is love to you?
It is very difficult to describe love. It is an inner feeling that God puts in people. It is not something that we come across every day.
Are you in a relationship?
Yes, I’m seeing someone at the moment
Do you believe that true love exists?
True love does exist.
Do you believe in marriage?
Of course I believe in marriage.
Tell us about your first experience on a date?
It was kind of a weird one. I was nervous; I stammered and had no control over myself. That’s how it is when you take a girl out on the first date.
When do you hope to walk down the aisle?
I don’t know when I’ll walk down the aisle. Marriage goes beyond loving each other. Both parties should be willing to be together forever. When I feel I’m ready to settle, I will get married but right now, I don’t know.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
It rarely happens but I don’t think it is a good thing. I’d rather people first get to know each other before getting into a relationship.
Would you ever fight for love?
I can’t fight for love or for a girl. I believe that when people enter into a relationship they are mature enough to handle themselves accordingly. I can be jealous, get angry, even cry but I can’t fight. If she decides to do anything else, then that’s how she wants it.

What is the first thing that attracts you to a girl?
It has to be her face. If she is good looking then I can go ahead and look at other things.
Do you think there’s any justifiable reason for anyone to cheat on their spouse?
I don’t think there should be any reason but again it depends. For example, you might have a household with a man who has no job and the survival depends on the woman. If that woman sleeps with her boss to get a promotion or protect her job, however much I don’t condone such habits, I think we should not judge because her intentions are good. We should try and look at the circumstances that forced her to do that.
Does cheating mean that one doesn’t love their partner?
Again it depends. Some people might cheat for material gains whereas another will cheat out of curiosity or under the guise of doing something crazy but I don’t think it means they don’t love the partner.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
It is highly possible. I have loved two people at the same time and I couldn’t make a decision about any of them. This is when one person has a percentage of attributes that you want and the other has the other attributes. You need them both to have balance.
When did you first have strong feelings about a girl?
In 2010 I had strong feelings for a girl and by then I was in senior five. I started doing research on how to date a girl so that I can know if I’m on the right track. It was a hilarious phase.
What are your views about marriage these days?
I don’t have any interest in marriage in this era. I only respect our parents’ marriages but not marriages of today. How do you meet someone and in a month’s time you want to get married? That makes no sense at all.
What do you think of people who only show their love on Valentine’s Day?
For a person who waits for Valentine’s Day to show their love, that is not love, rather a reason to continue with the relationship. If you show love to your partner every day, you won’t even notice Valentine’s Day because to you it is every day.
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done for love?
The first girl I loved took her sweet time (a year) to give me an answer. Later, I started showing interest in her best friend so she could make up her mind fast and give me an answer. It worked! I realise now that it was a stupid thing because I would have easily lost her.

What is your description of love?
I believe love is when two people come together because they have genuine feelings for each other.
Is it possible for people to distinguish between a crush and real love?
People usually fail to differentiate between the two because a crush is usually when there’s a physical attribute they like about that person. It is possible to differentiate between the two but people usually fail to make a distinction.
Are you in a relationship?
Yes I am.
What went through your head the first time you saw her?
I think it was love at first sight. The moment I saw her, I knew I wanted to be with her forever.
Why is it so hard to find true love?
People no longer value love. People in love just want to play around which culminates into dating multiple partners. In the long run, people get hurt and decide to play the game too.
Which is better; dating for long and get married or date for a short while, get married hoping the love will grow as days go by?
I think people should date for a longer period and that is what I would do. By the time we get married I’m sure I will know her very well.
Would you feel comfortable if a girl asked you out?
I know that it is still a foreign idea to us and something unusual in our culture but I don’t think I would have a problem with it. Of course I would ask her what made her ask me out but I wouldn’t have a problem with it.
Have you been dumped and if so, what was the experience like?
I don’t think there’s any guy who can confidently say that he has never been dumped. I was dumped and the experience was heartbreaking. I spent long hours asking myself why I had been dumped. I was so hurt but I moved on.
