Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Kenya Ambassador James Kimonyo has commended the management and students of the University of Eldoret for adding quality to the education given to the students by combining theoretical studies with practical works and the new technologies.
The High Commissioner made the remarks by while addressing students of Eldoret University where he was invited to deliver a motivational talk to the students from the engineering department.
After witnessing the work that has been done by students of various department from the faculty of engineering whereby some of them have been able to make solar panels and others introduced software’s that facilitate their engineering work, Ambassador Kimonyo thanked the university administration for making studies more hands-on and students for making good use of it.
“You have made a good choice of studying engineering, this is for you individually and your country because engineering drives the world in terms of development. Aim at being agents of change after school because engineering is critical in solving problems affecting your communities” Ambassador Kimonyo said
The vice Chancellor, Professor Pius Kipkembi thanked the High Commissioner for making time all the way from Nairobi to come and interact with students. He took the opportunity to thank the government of Rwanda for spearheading engineering course in its universities and appreciated what is being achieved through engineering.
“I was in Rwanda last December and I appreciate what they have achieved in this short period of time after the Genocide, infrastructure there is amazing. And you know Rwanda is a unique case when it comes to cleanness, so for them its good clean infrastructure which we appreciate” Pius narrated
The University of Eldoret was established in 1946 and it’s a home to over 17,000 students pursuing various courses in faculties of School of Agriculture & Biotechnology, Business and Management Sciences, Economics, Education, Engineering, Environmental Studies and Natural Resource Management.
