It has been a tough and lasting debate among the Parliamentarians assessing whether 16 years old Rwandans can be allowed to own a property, work for income-generating activities and be free to spend thier earnings according to one’s choices. Furthermore, the law is likely to be adopted and therefore let Rwandans aged 16 to be become responsible and accountable.
At 16 years old, normally educated Rwandans are meant to have finished a Tronc Commun and ready for the P4 studies.
However the current law regulating the maturity of a Rwandan stipulates that at 18 years old a Rwandan is legally old enough to be considered as both responsible and accountable.
One of the key pillars of the law is that all Rwandans aged at 16 will be enjoying legal right to decide for themselves which job to perform and which ones to avoid.
Even if there are some of the parliamentarians who are for the legal incitement, others are against the law due its suspected ‘soon-to-be proven negative’ consequences.
