The young man Rutayisire Eric, living in Irembo neighborhood, Mumena cell, Nyamirambo sector, in Nyarugenge district applied his knowledge he got from the Minnesota State University and fabricated a self piloting plane( a drone).
This small planes is able to take pictures in diffferent locations , including valleys, in different festivities and in construction sites.
He pursued his secondary studies in ‘La Colombière’ in 2009 where he studied physics and mathematics from where he continued in Minnesota University where he did electrical engineering’ studies.
Last year he thought about developing a self piloting plane. He was backed by his adviser Kin Chan and then started to materialize his wishes.
Before fabricating the drone, he read different academic books and papers explaining the mechanisms to fabricate drone. He found that fabricating such machine will enhance the quality of the Rwandan lives.
His drone is equipped with 6 engines and 2 cameras. The drone is capable of flying at over 2 kilometers high and is commanded from the soil based controller.
It has a special remote facility that helps in taking storing video images taken from above. It helps also in orienting the drone in different directions according to the interests of the controller.
The machine also has a Radio frequency mechanism that works as as as communication system.
He said that the price of this new drone is worthy $ 3000 equivalent to 3 million Rwf. He said that he plans to keep making more machines for to be used by Rwandans in the near future.
Rutayisire expressed his willingness and ability to fabricate other machines able to search for minerals and others that susceptible of helping builders in the fulfillment of their jobs.
He plans to assemble other machines that will help in the topographic investigations and other similar or related activities.
For Rutayisire, these drones are competitive enough as they are equipped with all necessary tools enabling them to resist against the crash.
The young Rwandan has private company that is called ‘CharisUAS’, which objective number one is to provide video linked services to its clients. He called upon every one willing to have a copy of the flying machine( the drone).
He advised the Rwandan students to study seriously and keep researching through creativity and innovation.
For him, one’s commitment to learning is a key to the success and Rwandan students should be exemplary in doing so, he urged.
