AU will never tolerate leaders who mistreat citizens- Dlamini Zuma

As the outgoing secretary general of the African Union Dr Nkhosazana Dlamini Zuma was addressing the gathering in the Kigali Convention Center attending the 27 Summit of the Union, she cautioned that leaders who mistreat their citizens will be penalized.

For her, all states are meant to safeguard its citizens and that this should be a the motto for each, at the other hand, the ones who disregard them and cultivate unlawful behaviors on their behalf should be brought to justice.

Focusing on the recent S.Sudanese crisis, she deplored the fact that the ceasefire between Salva Kirr and Riel Machar’s sides hasn’t be observed so far.

Dr Zuma said that it is in the African leaders to eradicate such mistreatment towards African people.

The outgoing AU executive secretary said that money that is invested in such wary activities should otherwise be used in enhancing citizens welfare such as fighting against malaria.

She emphisized the importance of issuing the identical Pan-African passport that is believed to boost intercontinental trade.

Its issuance will strengthen the feeling of pan-africanism and help Africans join efforts to solve burning issues that hamper its whole integration, Dr Dlamini Zuma highlighted.
