Barbara Pierce Bush the daughter of the former US President George W Bush alongside members of her Global Health Corps visited the Kigali genocide Memorial site located at Gisozi, in Gasabo District.
The Global Health Corps was created by Barbara in order to help many people across the world to receive adequate medical treatment for better living conditions for all.
The Barbara’s group aims at providing technological tools in different cornets of the world as to help people around the world benefit from better health services.
We came to Rwanda as a country that is part of the (GHC)that has endured different challenges relating to its particular history, Barbara said.
Jean Rene Shema in charge of supervision of GHC in the East Africa Community said that the Rwanda is a key member of the GHC in the region, and this is the reason why 135 members of the GHC came to Rwanda to learn from its history.
Shema who is also the Head representative of GHC in Rwanda said that the Global Health Corps aims at assessing which medical technologies can better serve patients and provide medical staff that are highly skilled in the field.
Most of the visitors who accompanied Barbara Bush came in Rwanda for the first time.
They expressed their sorrow feelings about the atrocities committed during the Genocide against the Tutsi.
At the other side, they expressed their appreciation for the social and economic advancement that Rwanda has achieved in 20 years after the genocide.
The GHC members have provide to the Kigali Genocide Memorial site with 1, 350 million Rwf for its functioning.
