Police in Bugesera district on November 10 intercepted a vehicle registration number RAB 265P, Dyna type, loaded with about five tones of a local tree plant called kabaruka cut illegally. The vehicle was intercepted at around 4 a.m. at a Police check point in Kanzenze cell of Ntarama sector. The driver was arrested and currently held at Nyamata Police station as investigations continue.
The Eastern Region Police Spokesperson, Inspector of Police (IP),Emmanuel Kayigi, lauded the public for providing Police with timely information which he said led to the seizure of the stumps.
“Effects of environmental degradation are far-reaching and affect everyone. Fighting these ill-acts should therefore be the responsibility of all,” IP Kayigi said.
He called upon the community to abstain from acts of environment degradation including tree illegal cutting and report those involved in time.
