As the Presidential elections in Burundi are being carried held, the outgoing President Pierre Nkurunziza arrives in Buye secondary school to vote. He is accompanied by his wife and security guards. This controversial election is held in atmosphere where two people have been killed last night and three presidential candidates withdrew their candidatures.
Those include Jean Minani, Sylvester Ntibantunganya and Domitien Ndayizeye. They were considered by observers as the most challenging candidates to Pierre Nkurunziza but now, the task is easier to Nkurunziza to win this election.
Since April this year, political actors in Burundi underwent a crisis based on the term limits that the constitution stipulates and that, according to some of them, Nkurunziza is likely to violate.
This resulted into a violent popular manifestations which were reprimanded by the army and the Police.
