As the start of the 2016 CHAN championship closes near, different stadiums have been innovated. The Rubavu stadium was launched yesterday and different dignitaries were present at the occasion. The Mayor of Rubavu district informed the onlookers that guests who will be visiting the district will be hosted in a respectful way.
According to the schedule, the first match will take place on January, 19, 2016. As the occasion a friendly match took place and opposed veteran footballers including military, referees among others.
The Vieux Lions was composed of veterans such as Abdulkarim Nduhirabandi, Rajab Bizumuremyi, Johnny McKinstry, Maj Gen Mubarak Muganga, Hassan Bizimana (the father of the Amavubi star Jihad Bizimana) among others.
The other team named ‘Karibu team’ was composed of Sekamana Leandre, Gatera Musa, Ndagijimana Theogene and Vincent de Gaulle Nzamwita who leads the Rwandan football federation: FERWAFA.
The match ended with the victory of Karibu with 3 out of 1 for the Les Vieux Lions.
The Rubavu stadium is able to host not less than five thousand fans. It’s also equipped with all necessary facilities such as toilets, cloakrooms, relatively wide and neat offices, among other utilities.
Until now the Cameroonian national team arrived in Kigali and is prepared for a friendly match with Amavubi that will take place this Wednesday.
