During a show that took place at Isango Star Sunday afternoon, Lawyer Nkusi Fred Kennedy said that the amendment of the Spanish bill of law that issued the arrest warrants towards Rwandan senior officers was due to the fact that Chinese who were co-accused influenced the Spanish government to amend the Law.
This Law, after its third amendment, stipulates that people concerned with this law are the ones living at the Spain or the ones who committed the crimes in Spain or someone who committed the crime elsewhere but in his/her travel, temporarily resides in Spain.
This is a good news for the senior officers of RDF who were concerned with the warrants because none of them falls into these categories, said One of the guests in the show.
The influence of China, as a economic super power, has played a crucial role in amending the Law because some of its former senior politicians, including former President Jiang Zemin were enlisted as suspects to be tried by the international court of justice.
Responding to the question of whether this Chinese-Spanish economic deal did not hinder victims from receiving justice, Lawyer Kennedy said that the international justice always walks with the political interests between nations.
These new amendments of the law have double meanings, according to Gonzagua Muganwa.
One is a good to the Rwandan officers who were concerned with the warrants, but it means something bad to the opposition side who wanted to see the suspects tried, Gonzague said.
It is also a bad experience to Africans who search justice from the international courts in case they don’t receive it in their home countries.
Africans loose the hope they had towards international justice as this one is influenced by the bilateral relations between countries, one of the guests said.
At the international scene, the show debated on the current intense pressure of the USA to Ugandan officials urging President Museveni to not sign the Anti-homosexuality bill.
Invited guests said the intense influence from Obama comes from the US gay community who financed his electoral campaign and he wants the African world to adopt them.
But at the other hands, Museveni is not willing to anger the Ugandans who are likely to elect him in the coming years.
For Lawyer Kennedy, Museveni is taking a good position to defend his nation’s values.
Listeners intervening in the show said that the arrests warrants were baseless.
This weekly show takes place on Sunday, from 2h00 to 3h00 PM and focuses on different issues that marked the news concerning Rwanda and at the international scene.
