As tensions arose between Presidents Paul Kagame and Jakaya Kikwete, the ex- Mozambican President Joachim Chissano is chosen to mediate both Heads of States.
The relations worsen due to a speech President Kikwete delivered at AU Headquarters in Addiss Abeba urging Rwanda to hold talks with FDLR rebels.
Rwandan authorities found the speech very provocative for a Head of State who knows that FDLR has committed a genocide in Rwanda.
Tanzanian PM Mr Mizengo Pinda told the Parliament that President Kikwete asked Ugandan President Museveni to mediate between both Heads of States as the current ICGLR President.
However a civil society organisation,Friends of East Africa is striving to convince Ex-President of Mozambique,Joachim Chissano to play the role of mediation between Kagame and Kikwete.
After the Speech of President Kikwete Rwanda underlined its resolute decision to never hold talks with genocide perpetrators.
As the situation was growing worse President Kikwete ordered Rwandans who were living in Tanzania illegally to go back home within 14 days.
Dr Richard Sezibera,Executive Secretary of the EAC told The East African (a Tanzanian newspaper) that EAC is searching for ways to calm the tensions between both Heads of States.
He is hopeful that this situation will not destroy the EAC community as it seems to be.
The ex-Head of State of Mozambique,Mr Chissano is a UN Ambassador to mediate between political conflicting situations in different nations.
