She is a daughter of the deceased businessman Assinapol Rwigara. Diane Rwigara told Umuseke that she is ready to present her candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections. If Diane Rwigara manages to win the elections, she will be the first woman ever to lead Rwanda.
Diane Rwigara affirms that she will start her campaign in accordance with the guidelines of the National Electoral Commission (NEC) that require candidates to campaign peacefully and in accordance with the law.
Today on Wednesday she will hold a press conference to highlight her political aims and motives that pushed her to run for the 2017 Presidential elections.
The NEC reminds that the presidential candidatures will start being received and examined from 12-23 May, 2017.
Currently few candidates have publicly announced their willingness and commitment to compete for the 2017 presidential elections.
Those include Phillippe Mpayimana, Father Thomas Nahimana, Diane Rwigara( private candidates) and Dr Frank Habineza who is the Democratic Green Party’ flag bearer.
The RPF Inkotanyi has not yet officially announce its flag bear in their upcoming presidential elections.
Rwandans will elect the President of the Republic on 3 and 4 August, 2017.
