DJIBOUTI: Rwandan Diaspora commemorates the Genocide against the Tutsis

On 10th, April, 2016, Rwandans living in Djibouti alongside friends gathered in the Imperial Hotel to commemorate for the 22nd time the genocide committed against the Tutsis in 1994.

The special envoy from the Rwandan Embassy in Ethiopia but that manages also Rwandan interests in Djibouti, Jean Marie Vianney Nkurayija told Rwandans who attended the commemoration that they should fight against the genocide through building upon their history.

This incentive will help you to achieve lasting peace and national pride, he advised them.

Nkurayija underlined that commemorating genocide should not keep one in dark days rather it should sharpen one’s commitment to be self reliant for a better life.

He urged the participants to strive for the eradication of the genocide ideology and the genocide itself at a global scale.

The representative of the Rwandan diaspora in Djibouti Theobard Nshimiyumuremyi said that close partnership among Rwandans will be keep ties between them strong and therefore help them to fight the genocide ideology that can raise among them or among others.

He added that commemorating genocide should be an everyone’s duty to honor the Tutsis massacred during the genocide in 1994.

Speakers who lectured the gathering pinpointed the origin, development and eradication of the genocide ideology.

Kabare François and  Manzi François Xavier were the key speakers who addressed the gathering.

The representative of the Djibouti government Abdourahman Ali Abdillahi who usually is an advisor of the Djibouti Head of State thanked the level of development that Rwanda has achieved  22 years ago.
