The Muhanga court has sentenced Dr Leopold Munyakazi to life imprisonment for his proven involivemnt into the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsis in 1994. The allegations against him involved the crimes against humanity, genocide denial among other serious crimes.
The chief judge Udahemuka Adolf decided that the accused is sentenced to life imprisonment after facts have proven him to be guilty of having committed the crimes he was accused of.
After hearing the court’s decision the accused expressed his discomfort, saying that the Almighty God will hold them responsible of the injustice they committed to him.
He thereafter delivered an anonymous open letter to the judge.
The 67 years old Munyakazi was arrested in the USA and deported to Rwanda to face justice.
