Drake cancelled his concert over the weekend in Philadelphia because he was concerned about the safety of his fans. The 26-year-old Canadian rapper abruptly cancelled his performance an hour after it was scheduled to begin on Saturday and initially blamed ‘technical problems.’
Fans who left the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia voiced their frustration on Twitter and some claimed the emotional singer was being ‘unprofessional’ with the last-minute cancellation.
Drake and his crew were concerned the catwalk that hangs over the stage would fall into the audience, so they postponed the show, sources told TMZ in an article on Monday.
Drake walks back and forth on the catwalk and it was feared that an electrical malfunction could cause a tragedy, the sources said.
According to Philly.com, Rebecca Goodman, spokeswoman for the Wells Fargo Center, released a statement notifying fans that the show had been rescheduled for December 18.
The last minute cancellation was initially blamed on ‘the elaborate nature’ of the show and ‘an unexpected technical issue’ for Drake’s Would You Like A Tour concert.
And while the venue promised to honour all original tickets and parking receipts from Saturday’s disappointing cancellation, fans were still none too pleased by the situation.

One fan commented on a snap posted by the rapper that depicted the stage hours before the show was scheduled to start.
The angry commenter wrote: ‘I think it was very disgusting how u canceled the show last night and very unprofessional and even if u do reschedule the date people have other obligations that is totally unfair and I think u owe your fans an apologize seriously!!! [sic]’
Another wrote: ‘There’s literally humans who drove 10 hours, skipped work, ignored grad school work, child support, & went broke for Drake’.
Adding: ‘Can’t wait to see you December 18th.’
Drake shared a photo on Instagram on Sunday of himself performing on the catwalk and apologized for postponing the show.
