The East African Legislative Assembly  (EALA) committed itself to engage open negotiations with Burundian government officials as to find out ways to stop instant killings and insecurity that prevails since April, 2015.

Its President Daniel Kidega was hosted by Rwandan Senate President Bernard Makuza in his office and both dignitaries have assessed the current situation in Burundi.

Their talks also tackled on the S. Sudanese fragile peace situation where Riek Machar and Salva Kirr are fighting for power and many civilians lost lives.\

Currently the EALA members are expected to end their term within ten coming months.

Before the end of the term, current MPs are working hard to popularize the Assembly as its current status is mainly political, as Makuza told reporters after holding talks with Kidega.

He added that currently the Assembly’ reputation is growing and becoming more known by East Africans and abroad.

Daniel Kidega, at his side, said that the EALA is entitled to learn more about the genocide ideology in the region and assess whether it is growing or have diminished since the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis.

Rwandan Makuza promised that Rwanda will provide every necessary and available means to help EALA achieve its aims in this regard.

However, both officials agreed on the fact that the significant lack of EAC home-generated incomes still hampers its financial independence.

This, therefore, negatively impacts on the policy making and implementing procedures, they concluded.

This imperatively dictates that EAC member states should abide to the payment of the funds that are pivotal in making the community financially fit.
