Most of districts of the Eastern Province farmers claim that the prolonged dry season has impacted o n their farming activities therefore reducing the production. The State secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture Tony Nsanganira urged them to use the irrigation techniques as to keep increasing production throughout the agricultural season.
The State Secretary Tony Nsanganira informed them that this new technique is an effective way to keep the agriculture production available so that the farmers may remain food secured.
He said this as he was addressing the farmers who attended a workshop held at the IPRC South Campus.
Farmers gained insights on how to use latest technologies on irrigation techniques but some claim that the tools to use and the inputs are highly expensive and time consuming.
Minister Nsanganira told them that government has planned to help them in purchasing the tools through contributing 50% of the whole package, the remaining part belonging to the farmer to contribute.
One farming machine is worthy eleven million Rwandan Francs.
