Dancers from Senegal, DRC, Angola and Rwanda have performed traditional dances in Musanze district as the ongoing FESPAD festival was held in the volcanic Northern Province of Rwanda.
Before starting performing, Senegalese dancers visited the Nkotsi and Bikara rivers supposed to be areas where some of Rwandan kings were enthroned
The Senegalese makes the Ballet Africain de Fambondy that performed drumming and dancing according to their tradition.
The area is located in the surrounding area of the volcanoes and was labeled Buhanga Eco Park.
Locals welcomed the visitors with local songs and musical instruments plays including the renowned Ikinimba dances.
The FESPAD itself was held in Muhabo Polytechnic where an exhibition of Rwandan traditional items was displayed.
Unusual dances from DRC, Angola and Senegal were performed.
The Head of the DRC performers namely Shemeni Salomon appreciated how kind and welcoming Rwandans are, adding that his troop has shown how culturally DRC is rich.
He added that FESPAD plays a crucial role in increasing inter human relations, promotes economy and thereafter enhances peace and prosperity.
The FESPAD week is chaired by Rwandan Ministry of sports and culture with its affiliated Rwandan Academy of Language and Culture( RALC).
