FESPAD takes place in Kayonza, a sign of safety and prosperity – Min Uwacu

The Minister of Sports and culture Julienne Uwacu has commended FESPAD agents to have organized and held the festival in Kayonza district despite rumored diseases in the Kayonza, Eastern Province.
Min Uwacu Julienne added that this is an indication that the province is safe for the lives of its residents and visitors.

Kayonza district is one of the districts written in national media to be affected by droughts that lasted for relatively long period and some of its citizens are narrated to have displaced to various areas in Rwanda in search of jobs as to assure their families’ food security.

As the FESPAD was taking place in the district, Egyptian traditional dancers grouped in the Toshka troop thrilled participants with eye-catching dances and dresses.
They were alongside the North Kivu(DRC) based cultural troop.

At the Rwandan side, the cultural troop has shown how Rwandan king dressed and some of the rituals that accompanied his reign such as chairing the Umuganura festival at national level.

Rusanganwa Charles who performed as the King of Rwanda revealed that the Umuganura was a means for Rwandans to gather, discuss and remind themselves national values that characterized the whole nation.

People sat down, shared meals and drinks to first taste the premises of the national harvest and thank God who his help in producing more seeds indispensable for people’s wellbeing.

He reminded the elderly to help the youth understand national values that made the pillars of Rwandan history and that should keep strengthening Rwandan cultural values throughout its history.

The Umuganura national event continues in Nyanza, Rukari area( the former kingly palace) where the last festivities of both Umuganura and FESPAD are meant to take place both today and tomorrow.
