As Rwandans are soon to celebrate the FESPAD and the Umuganura (annual premises harvest event), Rwandan minister of culture and sports, Juliene Uwacu revealed that a co-celebration of both event will be a means to highlight and showcase Rwanda’s achievement in terms of culture and food security.
The FESPAD( Festival Panafricain de la Dance) will be held in Rwanda for its 9th time and will be co-celebrated with Umuganura event that normally helps Rwandans to first taste the premises of both agricultural and animal related products such as milk.
Reporters asked Minister Uwacu how efficient this would be while people living in some parts of the country are claiming to suffer from hunger.
She pointed out that this event will be bringing together both people with and without huge harvest as it aims at strengthening social and economic ties between Rwandans.
The Umuganura event will be celebrated on 5th, August but it will be preceded by different other culture based activities across the country.
The FESPAD festival will start earlier and will be hold in different corners of Rwanda before its final take off.
The festival will be held in different districts including Kayonza, Musanze, Rusizi, and Nyanza.
In the night before the day of the event, there will be a dancing event called ‘Nyanza Twataramye’.
