Bugesera district- The Rwandan First Lady Jeannette Kagame has rewarded 85 girls who performed better than the others during the last national examinations for their studies in primary and secondary schools.
All of the rewarded girls are from Bugesera district. The First Lady J. Kagame told the audience that the aim of the Imbuto Foundation was, and remains the same, to help Rwandan girls undergo schooling at all its levels.
It was also meant to allow them achieve high social status through earning more marks and embracing better jobs.
Jeannette Kagame thanked parents of the awarded girls for the loving support to their children as they attended schools.
She said that current girls’ education improved significantly and helped more girls to learn and become effective mothers of Rwanda.
In 2005 statistics show that 39% of all graduates in secondary schools were girls. In 2016 at 55% of graduates were girls.
However there is more to be done in this regard to allow all Rwandan girls attend school and become productive workers in all sectors of Rwandan economy.
This is the 12 occasion that the Imbuto Foundation rewards girls who performed better in their schooling and the rewarding will be done throughout Rwanda with 227 girls to be rewarded.
There are over 4.438 girls have been rewarded since this program started and more others will receive such impulse to achieve better in their schooling.
