According to the Umbrella of civil society associations based in France called Collectif des parties civiles pour le Rwanda informs that the Genocide suspect Pascal Simbikangwa was found guilty of his involvement in the Genocide against the Tutsi.
The Bobiny commune court in Paris sentenced him to 25 years in jail but is allowed to appeal on October, 2016.
The former high ranking soldier in ex- Forces Armées Rwandaises reacted to the court’ decision, saying that he will appeal about that decision.
This is the first long lasting trial of a 1994 genocide suspect held in France.
Alain Gauthier who heads the Umbrella said that they knew about this information early this morning.
Simbikangwa was found guilty of having actively participated into the genocide preparation and in close collaboration with the then high ranking government officials.
The court testified that Simbikangwa dispatched arms to Interahamwe militia aimed at killing Tutsis in 1994.
