Yesterday at Amahoro National stadium, started a new program called Kids Athletics Program which aims at shaping the future talented sports men and women of Rwanda. Many observers say that this will resolve the lack of players who compete at both and national levels.
The shaping of those kids started yesterday with the launch of this program that will last for four years.
The manager of the talent detection in the Kids Athletics Program Nkezabo Jean Damascene told UM– USEKE that after discovering which talents kids have, the later ones will be training according to the specific talents they displayed so far.
Nkezabo Jean Damascene is the President of the Rwandan federation of athletics in Rwanda. He said that he is confident for the fact that these training will bear positive and effective result.
He said that before the training started, the federation trained more than 576 coaches to coaching 17 280 kids selected from different schools from Rwanda.
The program will cost 13 million Rwf so that the objectives might be achieved. He said that the federation has provided the schools with useful tools that will enable the kids to strengthen their skills.
The schools that receive the tools for the training of the kids include: EPAK( Kimihurura), Ecole Primaire de Kagarama (inRwamagana), Association Sport scolaire in Huye, Ecole Primaire Gacurabwenge (i Gicumbi),Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle (Rubavu), APR Athletic Club and one school from Nyamasheke.
