The tragedy happened in the Jali Sector where a housemaid called Gerarldine Uwineza has thrown a newborn in a nearby latrine but locals saw and rescued the little girl alive.
The newborn was brought to nearby health center to be taken care of. This May, 27, 2014, one of the locals from the Kinunga neighborhood, Agatego cell, in the Jali sector Gasabo district went to toilet and heard a baby crying inside the toilet.
The local called upon the nearby police station and the baby has been rescued and brought to the Gihogwe health centre to be taken care of.
The local executive secretary of Jali sector told UM– USEKE that the housemaid ran away and the Policemen are searching to arrest her.
Households from where the housemaid was working affirm their ignorance about the fact she was pregnant.
This happens as another young lady has thrown her newborn in a latrine in Matyazo Cell, Ngoma sector, Huye District.
Such crimes are punishable by the law and once the suspect is found guilty, he/she is faces life sentence.
Both Police and locals are hunting the housemaid to face juridical charges.
