Monday,17,June,UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon confirmed General Kazura as Chief Commander of MINUSMA ,a UN peace keeping legion affiliated in Mali.
As stipulated in Article 2100 (2013) General Kazura will officially undertake his tasks in the starting of the coming July. This happens before the UN Security Council takes a decision after which the swearing in ceremony will take place.
One of the duties of under the responsibilities is to restore peace in Northern Mali (Kidal ) where militias are creating chaos.
According the UN website (un.org) Kazura experience in the job has made difference in choosing someone to hold the position.24 years of experience in related fields is not something small.
He has been one of Rwandan Military High Commanders. He served as President’ Security Adviser and commanded the African Hybrid Military Regiment in Darfur, Sudan.
Meanwhile, the Malian government has undertaken peace talks with Touareg militia in the North.
This will facilitate General Kazura if the situation remains stable.
