Genocide perpetrators still live in our neighborhoods- Amb Mugambage

The Rwandan Ambassador in Uganda Major General Frank Mugambage told people who attended the 24^th commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi held in Kansesero, Kyotera district that some of its planners and perpetrators still live in various countries. Uganda is one of the EAC countries that host most of the suspects. He therefore emphasized that Rwanda will keep hunting them and bring them to justice

The Kyotero district has one of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsis memorial sites in Uganda where many Tutsis who were killed in Rwanda were thrown in Akagera River that flows to Victoria Lake, Uganda.

Amb Mugambage told his audience that the Rwandan government has set up sustainable measures to fight against Genocide and its ideology.

He condemned the international community for its inertia during that genocide that was being committed against the Tutsis.

Amb Mugambage thanked the APR liberation army that saved lives of the Tutsis across Rwanda, adding that Rwanda will keep searching and catching the genocide suspects in order to bring them to justice.

Uganda is one of countries that shelter many 1994 genocide suspects. Most of them changed their identities to confuse investigators.

In the past, not less than 147 arrest warrants against 1994 genocide suspects were issued in Uganda while 145 arrest warrants were sent in DRC.

Uganda has four 1994 genocide memorial sites in areas such as Mpigi, Masaka Rakai and Kansesero.

All of them have 10 000 remains of the Tutsis killed in Rwanda but whose body remains were transported by water rivers flowing from Rwanda to Victoria river in Uganda.
