The Rwandan Jean Claude Seyoboka who is accused of having committed the genocide against the Tutsis in 1994 in the former Nyarugenge commune was transferred to Rwanda by Canada. He arrived at Kigali International Airport late last night.
He is the second genocide suspect to be extradited to Rwanda by Canada after Dr Leon Mugesera who got tried and sentenced to life imprisonment by Rwanda justice.
Seyoboka is 50 years old and has been living in Canada as a refugee for 20 years in the area called Gatineau, Canada.
In Canada, he has hidden his former military career and after being unveiled, the Canadian prosecution investigated on him, founding that he is among the former Rwandan officers who are said to have participated in the execution of the genocide against the Tutsis in 1994.
The former International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda carried out its investigation on Seyoboka and one of unnamed witnesses revealed that he killed his wife and his two children.
Rwandan spokesperson of the National Prosecution Authorith Nkusi Faustin told Umuseke that the suspect will be persecuted for having participated into killings, planing and and exterminating Tutsis in former Nyarugenge commune.
The suspect lived in Canada with wife and children.
The National Prosecution Authority affirms that there more than 13 suspects in Canada that Rwanda wants to be extradited and get tried.
