130 people from 32 families are now relocated into decent houses in a model village located in Giti sector, Gicumbi district, Northern Province. The four in one houses are equipped with necessary facilities and items as to allow inhabitants live better.
Inhabitants are lucky to have a model market and a kindergarten school in their neighborhood.
One of the beneficiaries named Jeanne Nyiramusabye is joyful and thankful to be accommodated into a decent house as she was living in an old house located in a high risk zone.
Frederic Mbarushimana also thanked the government to be willing and able to accommodate its poor people in better houses as this is a foundation for live better.
The State Minister in Ministry of local government Dr Alvera Mukabaramba urged beneficiaries to keep their houses clean and start think how they can use the infrastructures as means to achieve sustainable development in the neighborhood.
She urged local leaders to back residents into establishing effective economic projects susceptible of transforming their lives for the better.
Beneficiaries were urged to plant trees as to acquire fresh air as well as planting fruit trees as to acquire better nutritional supplements.
Mayor of Gicumbi district Juvenal Mudaheranwa remind locals to safeguard the infrastructures made available for their use as they will allow them to live better, both them and their offspring.
Across the country there are 45 model villages being constructed. Around 503 million Frw will be invested into the thorough construction of the Gicumbi model village.
