People living Byumba sector, in Gicumbi and in its neighborhoods claim to in a huge need of enough and clean water supplies. They say that current water supply does not satisfy the current needs and the cost has increased.
The problem is more serious in economically advances corners of the Gicumbi district, where different activities requiring the use of water are relatively high.
A can full of water is worthy 100 hundred, including the payment of fees reserved for the one who fetched and transported the water cans.
Locals say that they have reported the cases to the authorities but nothing has been done in resolving the issues.
Nevertheless, the Mayor of the Gicumbi District, Mvuyekure Alexandre recognizes the water shortage, adding that this a widespread challenge that happened in different corners of the nations due to the on-going dry season.
In our district we have many people coming from different areas who settled here and this has resulted into the water shortage as the electric power supplies still produce the same electric energy rates.
He said that the district officials have agreed with the EWSA ( Energy and Water Sanitation Authority) so that more water sanitation facilities and supplies might be provided.
The most concerned cells include Gisuna, Gacurabwenge and other cells from the Byumba sector.
