In recent time, local people from Kageyo and Rukomo cells affirm that a local group that self declared as Starving Stars( Abasitari b’inzara) is threatening the security in the neighborhood. Local people say that those young people steal people’s mobile phones. In past few months, the crew members cut the trees from a nearby forest.
They also refused a food package they were given, all of these show at which extent their behaviors are threatening people’ security.
Those fearless youth have created a climate of fear in the refugee camp. None can face them easily but local leaders affirm to slowdown them and neutralize the crew’s activities .
One of the security keepers in the refugee camp affirms that the issue of insecurity is known, adding that adequate security measures to eradicate these dangerous misconducts are soon to be taken.
Police in the region says that it has started investigation as to find out who are involved.
Police knows that there are small insecurity cases committed by those youth but investigation continues and whoever will be found guilty, will be tried according to the law, said Spt Emmanuel Hitayezu, the Police Spokesperson in Northern Province.
The Police officer adds that local officials alongside the RNP has initiated the Anti-crimes clubs aimed at teaching the youth on positive thinking and behaving as a real and effective means to eradicate these crimes from the youth.
