Twenty five girls who are undergoing a pre-selection phase for the Miss Rwanda 2016 visited the Kigali Memorial Site located at Gisozi. The aim of the visit was to observe the history that Rwanda underwent during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and learn more from it.
This will equip them with necessary knowledge to use in the fight against the genocide ideology and its proponents.
Most of them were born before 1994 and therefore were eager to learn more. Dieudonne Kagame Ishimwe who heads the Inspiration Back Up Company that manages the Miss Rwanda event told Umuseke that the whole group will visit another genocide memorial located in Bugeresa, Nyamata at Ntarama Memorial site.
One of the Miss Rwanda 2016 candidates who signed in the book of visitors informed that she visited the site in the previous years.
However, she added that this time was the first one to fully have understood the real history that led to genocide and its consequences.
