During an interview provided by the manager of the Rwandan Housing Authority Eng Didier Sagashya, journalists were told that in 2018, around 360 thousand households of Rwandans will be relocated in safer places.
He said that those households located in the countryside will be relocated so that they may live in more comfortable zones.
For that to be effective, Eng Sagashya said that each year 120 thousand households will be relocated so to reach 360 thousand households in 2018.
The relocation will also concern other ten thousand families living in the high risk zones as well.
Eng Sagashya told media that the relocation will be done in collaboration with different stakeholders such as the Rwanda Environmental Management Authority, NGO, and other willing actors.
Concerning the housing policies in the cities, the CEO of the RHA revealed that the aim is to set up living apartments that will last longer and host as many families as possible.
The aim of the current housing policies is to provide Rwandans with affordable houses to rend.
One of the measures to attract more investors in the housing industry is to reduce the taxes as the ones who bring construction materials in Rwanda pays the taxes at minimum rate of 15%.
According to him, Rwandan government will set up a budget of eight billion Rwandan Francs (8 billion Rwf) to create different infrastructures where the apartments will set up.
These apartments will be built in different corners of Kigali such as Busanza, Ndera among others.
